Position: Registered Nurse - Operating Room

Description: Competition #2012-030 Registered Nurse – Whitehorse General Hospital Operating Room (PIPSC Bargaining Unit) Term Full Time Position – 1.0 FTE – 75 hours bi-weekly Term: March 1, 2012 to March 1, 2013 or until return of incumbent. This position is at the L09 level with an hourly pay range of $33.43 to $44.65. As a multidisciplinary team member the incumbent provides nursing care for patients through the administration and implementation of medical investigation and therapeutic programs. Knowledge and Skills Required Knowledge of established practices and procedures of professional nursing care; Knowledge of trends and developments in the nursing field; Ability to develop and implement nursing care plans; Ability to communicate orally and in writing; Effective interpersonal relationships; Initiative, judgment and reliability; Cross-cultural awareness; Advocacy and Assertiveness skills; Ability to teach nursing practices and other relevant unit skills; Basic computer literacy. The successful candidate is required to have a Diploma/Baccalaureate degree in Nursing, be currently registered with Yukon Registered Nurses Association (YRNA) and have current C.P.R certification. Postgraduate certification in Perioperative nursing and ALCS certification would be considerable assets for this position. A minimum of one year recent Operating Room/Perioperative experience is required for this position.
